Constitution for the Lost Highway and its inspiration

Lost Highway Expedition is a temporary society based on involvement of a large number of individuals - the smallest constituting elements of this society. To engage with each other the idea is to create a number of rules or maybe guidelines that define relations between expedition participants, both mobile and stationary. These rules expand further to the way that the project is unfolding.

An inspiration of how these rules could be constructed is the constitution (see photo) made by my grandmother for the summerhouse that my grandparents made in Dragacevo, Serbia, in 1954. Their house was open for the guests. As it (was) is far from any public transport or shop the place had to function on a principle of self-involvement. The constitution has been painted on the wall, and its aim was to challenge the relationship between guests and hosts. In a witty way it plays with (erasure of) hierarchy, collective creation and responsibility. The last amendment says: "The constitution is in power until the moment it gets painted over".
