Exhibition proposal - Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana

....we are no longer only on the theoretical plane, but on the plane of experimentation, of new forms of interaction, of movement construction that respect the diversity, the sensitivities, the particularities of interventions... (Guattari)

The idea for the exhibition/project in Moderna galerija is to create a space that generates learning in a variety of forms based on the concept of 'education for critical consciousness' as proposed by the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire. Consciousness in this context is understood to have the power to transform reality.

It is important to move beyond institutional critiques, and instead, to question ourselves: what kind of institution we are, what kind of values we institutionalise, what forms of practice we reward and most importantly, what kinds of space are we able to create inside institutions? We do not need new theories of learning so much as new spaces for their application and emergence. The first step towards any change in society is emancipation (education). It is a tool for access to participation in a new way; and what really matters is that we try to build new critical and constructive ways of being, thinking, and doing what about boogeying?. It is important to realize that knowledge is not fixed, but an aspect of a process which arises out of interaction. Only by seeking to learn from one another, by opening ourselves to the full power of what others are saying, do we seek to discover other people’s standpoints and horizons. We encounter a fusion of horizons, which is one of the conditions for establishing new social dynamics and relations in any society.
