Savsko Jezero (Sava Lake) in Belgrade
Submitted by kyongpark on Mon, 24/07/2006 - 2:58pm.

Sava river was blocked to creat this lake [when? local experts please help here], which is lined with very popular beaches all around. Heavily used, probably by tens of thousands people during summer weekends, is a remarkable example of public works during socialist period. Having now spent almost 2 month long unplanned Holiday in Belgrade, I frequent this lake on my bike, reaching from the city center on extensive bike trails that runs along both sides of Sava and one side of Danube. The rivers really define Belgrade during the summer, where restaurents and clubs on the boats turns the rivers into its main streets. I hate to see this be gentrified in the future.
