Wild in Belgrade

Wild in Belgrade

Right under Kalemagdan, looks like wilderness untouched. This is where the two great empires, Habsburg and Ottoman clashed, with Belgrade as the main strategic point for about half of millenium. Whats so nice about Belgrade is that its rivers, especially where Sava and Danube meets are almost completely undeveloped. If it is, then its not redeveloped. How many cities in Europe could say that. Before too late, come to Belgrade. Best if you join Lost Highway.

Herzog and deMeuron in Belgrade

Herzog and deMeuron in Belgrade

Yes every city must have one. But for Belgrade, they really went all out Pop. Taking Cheap Material High Architecture to extreme, they create Beyond Post Modernism. The bridge was designed by Calatrava. Hey if you have their email address, please send this to them. Why not. Send one to Mr. Koolhaas to. Dont send to Zaha. She will kill you. To bad, Phillip is dead.

Belgrade Filteration Plant

Belgrade Filteration Plant

This is a view of the Great Miosevic Water Filteration Plant, built in 1996. Super hi-tech and hybrid concept. You go have a drink, see how garbage accumulates, and have an Eco-pleasure. Instead of watch ducks, you watch how garbage really dances on water.

The New Grand Slam Tennis: Belgrade Open 2006

Yes there is a new Grand Slam Tennis Tournament. Its Belgrade Open. Wimbleton plays on grass court, French open on Clay court, and US open and Aussie plays on Hard Court. Well Serbian ingenuity comes through again, and invents Water Court. Lucky for us. The final game is on August 9th, when LHE is in Belgrade. Lets go.

Playground in Water/ Belgrade

Playground in Water/ Belgrade

What a radical recreational concept. Flood the playground, so kids could swim and climb at the same time. So much to learn from Belgrade.

Flooded bike trail

Flooded bike trail

I was told about a bike trail that goes all around the city, along Sava and Danube. But they didn't tell me that, right under Kalemagdan fortress, it goes under the water. Interesting park design. Actually this place is exactly where the house boat [the Summer Palace] is at http://europelostandfound.net/node/530, but here its all under water. The house boat will be right behind the tree in the water.
